A Waynesville man was charged with two felonies last week for allegedly exposing himself to a minor is a rural area of the county.
Tyler James Ponder, 32, was arrested for the offense that, according to court documents, occurred sometime between May 1, 2021, and June 4, 2021 in the Harmon Den area.
Those court documents allege that Ponder exposed himself to a 7-year-old “for the purpose of arousing and gratifying [his] sexual desire.”
Ponder was ultimately charged with indecent exposure with a victim under the age of 16 and indecent liberties with a child.
While Ponder hasn’t been charged with any sex offenses in North Carolina, he has been hit with other charges in the past, including violating a domestic violence protective order, communicating threats, larceny, assault on a female and driving while intoxicated.
Ponder was released on $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 30.
