A Canton man is scheduled to appear in court this week after leading police on a late-night chase over the weekend.
Clinton Rhinehart, 27, was arrested in the early morning hours of July 4 after a Haywood County sheriff’s deputy attempted to pull him over for speeding in the Crossroad Hill area of Canton and he allegedly tried to flee.
According to court documents, while attempting to flee, Rhinehart reached speeds in excess of 15 miles per hour over the speed limit and ran at least one stop sign and at least one stoplight.
Once Rhinehart was pulled over, he was also allegedly found to be in possession of a “straw, plastic baggie, black plastic container containing methamphetamine.”
Rhinehart was ultimately charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing to allude arrest with a motor vehicle, driving with a revoked license, two counts of injury to personal property, reckless driving and a host of other traffic citations.
Rhinehart was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond within an hour of his arrest.
