The Canton Police Department arrested James Dayton Plemmons, 47, Saturday May 1.
Officers with Canton Police, assisted by the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office, were conducting a driver’s license checking station when Plemmons came through and did not have a valid drivers license. Officers detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, searched the vehicle and located numerous hydrocodone tablets, methamphetamine, 89.7 grams of marijuana, marijuana dab cartridges, a glass jar of moonshine and a concealed handgun.
Plemmons was arrested and transported to the Haywood County Jail, where he was charged with trafficking opium, felony possession of a schedule VI controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver, possession of methamphetamine, carrying a concealed gun, possession of non-tax paid alcohol and maintaining a vehicle with a controlled substance.
Plemmons was given a $50,000 secured bond.
