Haywood County draws many visitors annually to the mountains. What many people may not realize are the wide variety of businesses that have sprung up with a direct link to those visitors.

“Restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, boutiques and gift shops, furniture makers, artisan crafters, potters, galleries, wedding venues, spas and so much more are also tourism-related businesses,” said Brindley Faile, Haywood County Tourism Development Authority digital marketing and public relations manager. “Because they too create an experience for a visitor.”

The Small Business Center at Haywood Community College and the Haywood County Tourism Development Authority will offer the second workshop in the free Social Media & Tourism Marketing Series for Small Business Owners — Analytics, Reviews and ROI — from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 5 at HCC's Regional High Technology Center.

Faile will be the speaker for this unique series as small business owners discover the latest tourism marketing trends and how to successfully employ social media and digital marketing strategies to grow their businesses. Attendees will gain actionable tips to improve marketing, utilization of Facebook and Instagram, Google Analytics and their overall online presence.

Once a business establishes its social media presence,  session two of the series allows them to better understand their online influence. During this workshop, Small Business Owners will walk through the basics of Google Analytics, Online Reviews, what the numbers mean and how to use analytics for your small business strategies.

“Many small businesses struggle with managing their marketing efforts in addition to all the other tasks they must juggle in a day,” Faile said. “These seminars will help aid planning and strategy implementation so that their social media and marketing workflows will be less time consuming and more effective.”

The remaining seminar in the series will include "Creating an Experience that Sells" on Oct. 3.
