One Dozen Who Care, Inc., a nonprofit that seeks to empower, educate and encourage economic development for women, youth and elders is offering a $1,500 scholarship.
ODWC aims to bridge cultures and create community bonds.
The application period for the third annual Prescott Scholar is now open, with a deadline of Feb. 28. The scholarship is designed to aid the winning student in her attainment of a post-secondary credential.
The ODWC Prescott scholarship is not limited to graduating high school seniors. Women pursuing associate’s degrees through terminal degrees are eligible to apply. Preference is given to women from traditionally under-represented backgrounds.
The requirements for eligibility require the applicant:
• Reside in Clay, Cherokee, Graham, Macon, Swain, Jackson or Haywood counties
• Have a GPA of 2.5 or better
• Be able to show proof of acceptance or proof of enrollment in a post-secondary (higher education) institution.
