Visitors shopping on Main Street in downtown Waynesville this Saturday will get the opportunity to admire dozens of classic cars that will be on display during the inaugural Classic Car Show.
The car show was the brainchild of Chuck Logan, co-owner of Logan’s Gifts & Home Decor, who thought a car show was a perfect fit in charming downtown Waynesville.
“Main Street is a great venue for a car show,” Logan said. “We have the shops, restaurants and a small town feel. It will be a great venue for people who love cars. They can come together and experience downtown and have a good time.”
The car show will be closing down Main Street in Waynesville at 10 a.m. and the show will begin at 11 a.m. Cars will be on display all the way from Church Street to the Historic Courthouse until 5 p.m.
Setup for Waynesville’s Block Party will begin after the car show and the block party will kick off at 7 p.m.
Logan has hired a DJ to play music during the show and some downtown Waynesville merchants will be having special sidewalk sales.
Registration for the car show is free this year, which has garnered a great response from people in the community who want to register their car.
“We’ve had a really really great response so far,” Logan said, adding that a car club from Florida is expected to bring up several vehicles for the show. “Right now I have 37 registered, however there are people still calling me every day. I would expect another 50 cars so we probably would have about 80 or 90.”
Registration for the show is still open. The show welcomes motorcycles, old trucks old cars specialty cars. To register your car, call Chuck Logan at 804-586-7268.
“I am hoping to draw a bunch people, participants and cars,” Logan said. “I’m hoping Main Street will be packed on Saturday and we’re just going to have a good time.”
