BETHEL — There’s a new business in Bethel bound to appeal to coffee lovers.

The Coffee Container is a drive-thru, where customers have already discovered Bethel Cold Brew, a vanilla coffee drink with sweet cream.

“I bet I’ve served 10 gallons of this already,” said business co-owner Mallory Fouts.

Fouts, along with her husband, Cody, along with Danny and Nylynda Heatherly, came up with the business idea after The Outpost closed in December.

Mallory Fouts was the store manager and decided opening some sort of business in Bethel would be a next step.

“When the Outpost closed down, I decided I didn’t want to sit at home,” she said. “We came up with the idea to do something for our community of Bethel.”

The Heatherlys already had the shipping container (which inspired the business name), and after installing flooring, windows and replacing an entire side of doors with a wall, it was time to bring in the coffee-making equipment and supplies.

The Coffee Container has only been open sporadically for a “soft opening” as two additional baristas are trained, Mallory Fouts said. By May 1, the business will be open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Because there isn’t a commercial kitchen in the container, only beverages and packaged foods such as Otis Spunkmeyer cookies, along with Pepsi beverages, will be offered.

For now, only one window is open, but by May, drinks will be served out of windows on both sides of the container where there will be one-way traffic.

Stacy Nichols, who works nearby at Accurate Auto, was sampling her first beverage from The Coffee Container this week.

“I’ve been going to Starbucks forever,” she said. “It’s exciting to have this so close.”
