MAGGIE VALLEY — Business has been good at Scott’s Automotive & Lockout in Maggie Valley. So good that Brian and Amanda Scott have totally outgrown their original space at 525 Soco Road behind Seven Silver Seas.

The husband-wife team found a 6,000-foot warehouse building at 2404A Dellwood Road where they could have six to eight bays and plenty of room to park vehicles being worked on indoors.

To do that, however, the Scotts needed approval from the town planning board and a special exception from the zoning board of adjustment.

“We’re outgrowing our space and have expanded our customer base,” Scott Sutton told the zoning board. “This will allow us to further grow our business and provide state of the art diagnostic repair.”

There will be seven exterior parking spaces, primarily for employee parking and customers, while there will be spaces for 15 vehicles in the building.

The proposal is for no external storage, said Maggie Planner Kaitland Finkle as she outlined the proposal. Vehicles towed would be to the interior of the building, which will have roll up doors on both sides.

Board members agreed storing vehicles inside would be preferable, and unanimously approved the special exception.

Brian Scott said he could probably be up and running in the new location within a month.
