Volunteers at the stream restoration site in Maggie Valley

RESTORED — Employees from Haywood Waterways and Jennings Environmental, along with several volunteers, put the finishing touches on a recent project.

Haywood Waterways is seeking volunteers to help with plantings on Aug. 24 at Elevated Park in Maggie Valley.

Haywood Waterways has completed its bioswale project at Elevated Park, an effort to help reduce stormwater runoff from entering Jonathan Creek.

Volunteers and Haywood Waterways staff will be planting native shrubs and plants to help filter and reduce runoff from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 24.

Haywood Waterways is in need of additional volunteers for the project. Waterways will have some supplies available for plantings, and interested parties should come with extra supplies if possible.

The park is located at 3732 Soco Rd, Maggie Valley.
