Due to COVID-19 stay-at-home restrictions, Richie’s Alliance for Autism has canceled the planned charity events, April 27 – 29. The three days of events were developed to provide fundraising outreach to Haywood County’s Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) children.
Richie’s Alliance believes, “Together we can make a difference,” and is grateful for the community support the past four years. In 2019, Richie’s Alliance donated $54,000 to the Haywood Exceptional Children’s Program (HECP).
“The Haywood County Exceptional Children’s Program provides specially-designed instruction to children with disabilities, ages 3 though 21, so that they have a free, appropriate public education,” said Louis Perrone, co-founder of Richie’s Alliance. “And, importantly, it directly benefits families in Haywood County.”
Canceled events are:
• Monday, April 27 — Art, Dinner and Auction, presented by Jonas Gerard Fine Art and hosted by Frankie’s Italian Trattoria in Maggie Valley.
• Tuesday, April 28 — Casino Royale’ Autism Awareness Golf Tournament, presented by Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort and host sponsor Maggie Valley Club.
• Wednesday, April 29 — Richie’s Alliance for Autism ‘Taste,’ food and wine festival, presented by Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort, and hosted by Maggie Valley Club.
“Knowing that the cause helps so many and charity funds will be at a low point this year, we thank all of our donors,” Perrone said. “Without you, we could have never come so far in our mission.”
