Even though this has been a unique year due to COVID-19, three girls from Haywood County still participated in Bible Drill for 2021.
Lydea Keller, a seventh-grader at Hemphill Baptist Church, passed the church drill and the association drill at Bethel Baptist on March 25 and the regional drill held in Shelby, North Carolina, at Flint Hill Baptist on April 17. She memorized many Bible verses and only had 8 seconds to find the verses. This makes her fourth year involved in Bible Drill.
Abbey Keller, a fourth-grader from Hemphill Baptist Church, and Maggie Shelton, a sixth-grader from Bethel Baptist Church, both passed their church drills before advancing to the association drill on March 25 at Bethel Baptist. Both girls passed that drill and had their state drill at Hemphill on April 10.
Both girls were declared State Bible Drill Winners after passing the state drill. They learned 25 Bible verses and 10 key passages this year, while also learning the Books of the Bible over the last several years.
