Hendersonville author Denise Williams believes that “our stories are all part of a greater story.
That story is God’s eternal epic.” She says, “He who knows us best, loves us most, and is calling us into His eternal dance.”
It is this belief, coupled with hearing many people’s stories over the past decade, that led Williams to share a portion of her life story in “Whispers and Shouts: Embracing the Journey, Enjoying the Dance” (published by WestBow Press).
The book is a compilation of stories, “which paint for us pictures of the joys of young love, discovering new ways to walk by faith, and navigating the unexpected twists and turns of those early years of marriage.”
According to her, God used the joys as well as what she calls the “crucible of marriage,” along with the excruciating loss of babies “to bring her to a deeper knowledge of his love, goodness, and faithfulness and to draw her into His eternal dance.”
She describes the divine dance as being the constant flow and demonstration of love between the three persons of the Trinity who give sacrificially to one another with such abandon that neither takes any thought of self.
As readers read these parts of her journey, she hopes they begin to consider God’s threads of love, goodness and redemption in their own stories. Williams says, “There have been times that my story didn’t make sense. Many days there were no words to describe my grief and pain. On some days, the darkness threatened to overwhelm me. But, believe it or not, those became the times I heard God’s voice most clearly.”
By sharing her story in “Whispers and Shouts: Embracing the Journey, Enjoying the Dance,” Williams aims for readers to be encouraged by the love, faithfulness, and tenacious pursuit of God. She concludes, “My hope is that everyone who reads my book will get glimpses of how God uses every moment of our lives, whether filled with pleasures or decimated by deep pain, to make us more like Jesus.”
