An estimated one in five families in Haywood is food-challenged as a result of the COVID-19 recession.

Thankfully, there have been resources available throughout the past 11 months to help families over the hump as providers wait for their jobs to return or their incomes to rebound.

The Haywood County Health and Human Services Department provides updates on the various food pantries and food distribution efforts in the county, many made possible through the federal COVID-19 relief funds provided after the pandemic hit the nation.

In addition to outdoor pantry locations in the county that can be accessed at any hour of the day or night, there are specific food box distribution times set across the county.

Some are monthly, others weekly, and yet others such as at Haywood Christian Ministry, occur each weekday.

Attached is a listing of the available food distribution models.
