Haywood Vocational Opportunities, an nonprofit employer with a mission to offer jobs to adult with special needs, is searching for veterans.
The organization will host a Veteran’s Community Resource and Job Fair from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, June 27, at its headquarters at 172 Riverbend S. in Waynesville.
Lunch will be provided for veteran’s and family from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
A job fair for the general public will be held the same day from noon to 2 p.m.
The event will be put on to recognize employment barriers of those veterans that struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It will connect area veteran job seekers, as well as the general public, to employers and veteran resources in one location.
Studies have shown that veterans with PTSD are 50 percent more likely to be unemployed; however, even a modest reduction in PTSD symptoms through treatment can improve employment prospects.
