Dr. Alfred A. Mina, general surgeon with Haywood Regional Medical Center (HRMC), has received two educational honors.
Mina was awarded the Application/Individualization Phase Clinical Preceptor Excellence in Teaching Award for off-campus faculty by the UNC School of Medicine Academy of Educators (AOE).
“Education and quality go hand-in-hand,” said Mina. “Teaching can help keep physicians up with what’s new, cutting-edge and current.”
In addition, this March, he accepted a position of assistant consulting professor with the Department of Surgery with Duke University Health.
“Much has changed since I came to work at Haywood Regional,” said Mina. “As we have grown, our staff have embraced a greater role in education, and thus created leadership roles in North Carolina’s western counties.”
