The Youth Environmental Stewardship Camp is being offered by the Haywood Soil and Water Conservation District from June 25-28. It is available for rising 6th-9th graders. The outdoor camp is in its 20th year and is funded by the Pigeon River Fund.
Middle school students will capture and release aquatic insects, hike, collect data on salamanders at Purchase Knob and participate in other fun and educational activities that increase their understanding of the environment.
The camp is led by Canton Middle School teacher, Thad Pickard. To register students, call Donna Fielden at Haywood SWCD at 828-452-2741, extension 3, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
