HART Theatre brings some humor to the stage this holiday season with A Christmas Story, the tale of young Ralphie and his quest to receive a Red Ryder carbine action air rifle for Christmas.
Adapted from the classic 1983 film, A Christmas Story offers audiences a laugh-out-loud experience as a favorite holiday story comes to life for two weekends, Dec. 9-11 and 16-18.
In A Christmas Story, schoolyard antics lead to the ultimate triple-dog-dares, the ‘Old Man’ battles the furnace and Mother dresses her boys in so many layers they can’t put their arms down. The satirical humor and childlike honesty in the play are appealing across the generations, celebrating what it’s like to be a kid around Christmas Time.
From the iconic leg lamp to pink bunny pajamas, tongues sticking to lamp posts and “you’ll shoot your eye out,” A Christmas Story is the nostalgic night out that everyone can use during the holidays.
Audiences have a special treat this year when they arrive at the show early to shop HART’s Holiday Market. Opening one hour before showtime, guests will be able to shop HART costumes, vintage clothing, props, interior decor and even some furniture at discount prices in the Fangmeyer Lobby. It’s a great way to get holiday shopping done while supporting local theater.
A Christmas Story features both new faces and HART favorites with Pasquale LaCorte as Ralph/narrator, Charles Dunn as Ralphie, Sarah Lipham as Mother, Tom Bastek as The Old Man, Tristan Johnson as Randy, Bonnie DeMarco as Miss Shields, Henry Blackburn as Flick, Eli Penny as Schwartz, Keira Ollis as Esther Jane Alberry, Addi Manning as Helen Weathers and Oliver Lingle as Scut Farkas. Erin McCarson will be making her HART directing debut with HART’s Operation Manager, Julie Kinter, as her stage manager and lighting design from Abby Aumen.
Performances for A Christmas Story will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday Dec. 9-10 and 16-17; and at 2 p.m. Sundays Dec. 11 and 18.
Get tickets for A Christmas Story by visitingwww.harttheatre.org or by calling the Box Office at 828-456-6322. Winter Box Office hours are from 3-5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
