The Main Stage at HART Theatre will be a hot spot for winter entertainment March 1 when the Waynesville Kiwanis Club hosts its second annual Kiwanis Cabaret and Variety Show.

Many of Haywood County’s top musicians, singers and dancers will provide everything from knee-slapping bluegrass, to humorous, upbeat songs and touching Celtic and Appalachian ballads.

Ballroom dancers and cloggers will perform as well, providing the audience a variety of talent.

“We are excited to provide this opportunity for the community to enjoy a fun evening of family entertainment in their home community andspice up their winter at a wonderful venue,” said Kiwanis President Rosemary Hieronymus. “Come join us and be entertained.”

The show starts at 6 p.m. and advance tickets are available.

“We were absolutely thrilled by the auditions and glad to have some repeat performers and very talented first timers,” said Marti Peithman, who coordinated the recruitment of the entertainers.

Performers volunteer their time, making it possible for the proceeds from the show to go toward the Kiwanis grants program to benefit children and youth in Haywood County.

“Our Kiwanis Club was ecstatic over the success of last year’s first variety show. It’s family friendly and appropriate for all ages,” said President-Elect Wilson Strickhausen.

Last year’s show netted $4,000 to support Kiwanis grants to teachers, schools and youth serving organizations,, said musician and Kiwanis Vice President David Russell.

Tickets cost $20 for adults and $10 for children/students. Reserve your tickets by emailing or call the HART Box Office 828-456-6322.

If available, tickets may be sold at the door. All tickets include assigned seating. Refreshment’s will be during the show by HART Theatre Concessions. A limited silent auction and a Lucky Draw for a $2,000 cash prize will occur that evening as well.
