Salvation Army marks the season with call for bell ringers

Volunteers needed for Red Kettle drive

SOUND OF THE SEASON — The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle fundraiser kicks on Friday, Nov. 13. Volunteer and paid opportunities are available.

The Waynesville Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to ring bells at the Red Kettle locations this Christmas season.

Volunteers may be an individual or group.

The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign is a critical fundraiser for the organization’s Christmas assistance and year-round programs that address social concerns in the community. This year the needs are greater than ever.

Volunteer opportunities will begin Friday, Nov. 13, and run through Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec. 24. Bell ringing takes place Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Applications are also being taken for paid bell ringer positions.

Centers for Disease Control & Prevention guidelines will be followed.

To volunteer, contact Nadene Beach at 828-456-7111, ext. 4 or or, stop by the Salvation Army office at 290 Pigeon St., Waynesville.

Funds raised during the holidays assist families with winter relief such as heaters, utility and rent assistance, as well as food and clothing.
