Internet damage from fire closes all schools

The Haywood County School System released the following news release at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, January 7.

Haywood County Schools is closed due to an Internet outage across schools. An off-campus fire caused fiber damage that resulted in the loss of Internet service across schools.

There will not be remote learning today. Staff may report to work or take accumulated leave.

We apologize for the timing of this announcement. We were unaware the outage until early this morning and have been communicating with the Internet provider to determine if repairs could be made in time to provide remote learning.
