Haywood Community College Foundation established the Butterscotch Scholarship Endowment in the amount of $312,500. The gift was received from the Estate of Thomas E. Donovan, and was named for one of his beloved golden retrievers.

Donovan, who passed away on Feb. 17, 2020, originally started the scholarship in 2003.

Any full-time student enrolled in any program of study is eligible to receive the scholarship. Student scholarship recipients must be a resident of Haywood County. HCC’s scholarship applications are currently open.

Registration for spring is underway now.

HCC was founded in 1965. It is part of the North Carolina Community College System, and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

The Haywood Community College Foundation is a 501©(3) that works to further the work and service of HCC. It assists the College by securing necessary and timely financial support unavailable through traditional funding sources.
