America is battling dual pandemics, COVID and racism. This battle has further exposed the previous existing racial disparities in education. Our children, families, and educators deserve better.
Dr. Ronda Bullock will kick off the new joint education effort for public school teachers, hosted by Jackson County NAACP and Haywood County NAACP.
She will offer a free virtual presentation on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m.
Everyone is invited to the free presentation but registration is required at: http://bit.ly/DrTaylorBullockWNC
Bullock’s presentation will be called “We can’t wait! Equity now!” Following the presentation, public school teachers will be meeting in small groups online with presenters/mentors on several topics related to race, class, LGBTQ students, nationality and religion as it can be discussed in school.
This series is being offered to Macon, Jackson, Swain and Haywood County schools. Haywood County NAACP is hosting along with Jackson County NAACP. See the attached flyer.
Bullock is co-founder and lead curator of the nonprofit organization, “we are,” which stands for “working to extend anti-racist education” https://www.weare-nc.org/.
