Fireworks will light up Canton July 5

CANTON — Fireworks will be launched over Papertown as part of its July 4 Plus 1 event, but none of the other traditional festivals will be held.

That means there will be no food trucks, no watermelon, no music, no inflatables or any of the other festivities typically organized by town leaders to celebrate Independence Day.

In the interest of public health, Canton Town Manager Jason Burrell said town parks will be closed off to prevent gatherings, but spectators can still watch the fireworks display from their lawns, porches, cars, bedroom windows or wherever else they may be on July 5.

“The town of Canton is just going to promote it as, ‘look up at the sky at 9 p.m. and you’ll see fireworks,’” Burrell said.
