Folkmoot is postponing all of events being held at the Folkmoot Friendship Center through May 23, including Folkmoot-sponsored cultural dinners, concerts and programs, as well as several events by outside groups leasing the Folkmoot Center as a venue. Plans to reschedule these events are to be determined.
Events during the last week of May and in June are considered “tentative” at this point.
Folkmoot is moving forward with planning for its signature international festival, set for July 18-26, although logistics of bringing in international performing troupes could prove impossible and require the summer festival to be altered, modified or rescheduled.
“As anyone can well imagine, there are a lot of logistics involved in planning and orchestrating a 10-day festival with numerous performances, a variety of venues and artists coming from around the world,” said Folkmoot Executive Director Angie Schwab. “Due to the uncertainty of limitations on public gatherings, travel restrictions and the general health and well being of our community, we have decided to cautiously move forward with planning this event and all events we have through the summer. It’s possible that we will need to transform or reschedule the Folkmoot Festival.”
Folkmoot will provide periodic updates on our planning efforts and remain hopeful that the festival will provide an opportunity to celebrate the importance of cross cultural community gatherings in a safe environment.
