Tomorrow is a great day to find a bargain on household goods and help a good cause.

The Moms4Moms thrift sale will provide a day of shopping for bargains. The proceeds from the event will go toward the Share the Warmth fund, which provides assistance in the wintertime for heating costs.

Susan Anderson, who coordinated the donations and the sale, said a tremendous number of items have been given to help the Share the Warmth effort.

“I have been amazed by the generosity of contributors to Moms4Moms,” Anderson said. “We have received items from residents in Buncombe, Wake and Haywood counties. Many of the items are new and others are slightly used. We have been very careful to examine all donations to make sure they are clean and in excellent condition.”

With tight budgets facing most people this holiday season, Anderson said Saturday’s sale will help everyone involved by providing bargains on items while raising money to help with heating expenses.

“We have designed the thrift sale to resemble any department store,” Anderson said. “Items are fairly priced below consignment shops, but not yard sale rates. This is a fundraiser as well as an opportunity to offer great bargains.”

Some of the items available for purchase include electronics, home furnishings, Christmas things, infant furnishings and accessories, toys and clothes for girls and boys and clothing for men and women. Anderson said some of the more interesting items for sale include rugs, new comforters, decorative pillows, lamps, small kitchen appliances, exercise equipment and office furnishings.

“We even have some items for the Red Hat Society,” she added.

Anderson said she hopes everyone takes advantage of the bargains that will be found tomorrow, which will give people an opportunity to get started on their holiday shopping.

“If anyone misses this opportunity, I don’t expect to see another one like this anytime soon,” Anderson said. “The purpose of this sale is to give the proceeds to Share the Warmth, turning sales into emergency heat. There are too many people who do not qualify for assistance and yet they struggle to take care of their families.”

The indoor thrift sale to benefit Share the Warmth takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7. The sale will be at the former An-Ton Chevrolet-Buick Showroom, 750 Champion Drive, Canton. The showroom can be accessed at exit 31 on Interstate 40 in Canton. The showroom is behind Burger King.
