Barbour, Buchanan wed July 24

Leslie Brooke Barbour and Jerry Ryan Scott Buchanan were united in marriage July 24, 2010, at Lake Junaluska Memorial Church in Lake Junaluska.  The Rev. Owen Fulghum officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Keith Barbour of Benson.  She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Jack Ferrell of Garner, Margaret Barbour of Benson, the late W. Cleon Barbour, Shirley West of Benson and the late Garland West.  She is a 2010 graduate of The University of North Carolina-Greensboro with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. The groom is the son of Jerry Buchanan of Waynesville and Sandra Baker of Canton.  He is the grandson of

the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Shelton, Julius Bright Buchanan and Doris Smith.  He is a 2008 graduate of Western Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in music education.  He is employed as youth minister at The Vine of the Mountains Church in Waynesville.
The bride was escorted by her father and presented for marriage by her parents.  Toni Maes Scott of Kent, Washington, served as matron of honor and Susan Faith Daniel of Castle Hayne attended as maid of honor.  Bridesmaids were Rachel Melissa Drew of Benson, Ana Sanchez of Waynesville and Jessica Lee Wilder of Sanford.  Kelly Buchanan of Waynesville served as flower girl.
Clinton Timothy Matthews of Clyde served as best man.  Groomsmen were Wesley Allen Ponton, Brent Russell Seward, and Daniel James Snyder, all of Waynesville and John Hunter Speier of Sylva.  William Chapman of Waynesville served as ring bearer.
Special readers were Logan Ray Ferrell of Garner and Craig Bishop of Waynesville.  Music was provided by Martha Mason of Waynesville, Dr. Robert McBain of Mandeville, Louisiana, and Justin Bowman and Cheryl Fulghum, both of Waynesville.  Bagpipes were played by Steve Agan of Asheville.  Gayle Blackmon directed the wedding ceremony and Lynne Galloway was the reception director.  Presiding at the register and program attendants were Katie Snyder of Waynesville and Chloe Zacher of Lake Junaluska.
After the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at The Vine of the Mountains Church.
On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at Connie’s Kitchen in Waynesville.
After a trip to the Virginia mountains, the couple will reside in Waynesville.
