Grassroots fundraising ‘guru’ Kim Klein to hold workshop
The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC) will host nationally-renowned fundraising trainer Kim Klein in Asheville on Jan. 23 for a workshop titled “Getting Your Board on Board with Fundraising.”
Nonprofit organizations are invited to have staff attend the session. The workshop is open to the public. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at A-B Tech’s Enka campus.
Widely considered a “guru” in the field, Klein is founder and former publisher of the Grassroots Fundraising Journal and has trained thousands of nonprofit groups in fundraising techniques during the past 25 years. Her guidance is also based on experience as a director of nonprofits in New York, Knoxville, and San Francisco. All three of Klein’s previous workshops in Asheville have been attended by sell-out crowds.
“We know that organizations across our region struggle to raise the funds they need to provide services to the people of Western North Carolina,” said Pat Smith, president of “We hope many nonprofit representatives will benefit from the workshop to either learn or refresh the fundraising skills they need to succeed.”
The Community Foundation works locally with The Fund for Haywood County, one of nine regional affiliates.
The cost is $40 per person and includes lunch. Checks should be made out to “CFWNC-Kim Klein” and mailed to: CFWNC, P.O. Box 1888, Asheville, NC 28802. Pre-registration by Jan. 16 is required. For more information, visit www.cfwnc.org or call (828) 254-4960.
